Marketing Strategies for Content-Based Websites vs. Application-Based Websites

by Eric Rowell

Why is it so easy for content-based websites to generate traffic while it seems impossibly hard for application-based websites to get even a few visitors? The purpose of this post is to explore the nature of the web and how to formulate a marketing strategy for your website depending on its classification.

What is a content-based website?

A content-based website is a site that produces high volumes of quality content. Some of the best well known examples of content-based websites are blogs, forums, and news sites.

What is an application-based website?

An application-based website is a site that provides a usable service. Some good examples of this type of website are Facebook, Amazon, and Twitter.

How do search engines fit in with both website types?

If you've ever created a website that does something, and you've also created a blog, then you've experienced firsthand why content is so powerful. For those of you who haven't, let me explain. If you create a website that does something, like an online application that helps you map out a jogging route somewhere in your neighborhood, then you'll quickly realize that it's impossibly hard to get the word out about your new service. If on the other hand you create a simple blog, you'll be amazed at how much traffic you start getting after just a few posts. What's going on here?

This phenomenon can be explained if you understand the nature of the web. There are two kinds of websites: websites that do something (application-based), and websites that provide content (content-based). In terms of searching the internet, it's relatively simple to quantify the usefulness of a particular content-based website by counting its number of inbound links. Generally speaking, websites that provide content will link to other websites that provide additional relevant information. As a result, you can measure the usefulness of a website by comparing its number of inbound links to other websites. As simple as it sounds, this is the basis for search engine algorithms today.

Unfortunately, it's not as easy to quantify the usefulness of a website that does something other than generate content. This is why blogs can get a lot of traffic immediately after its launch while other types of websites can struggle to get even a handful of visitors.

Content-based vs. Application-based

When using a search engine to find information, you probably traverse dozens of websites by reading content and clicking on related links. This is how content-based websites are generally found. On the other hand, do you remember how you found out about Facebook, Amazon, or Twitter? It probably wasn't from a search engine. This is because application-based websites have a harder time leveraging search engines and usually have to rely on other mechanisms to drive traffic to their services.

Marketing strategies for each classification

Due to the different natures of each website type, it's important to understand how online marketing will play a role for each classification. If you have a content-based website, you definitely need to spend a lot of time on SEO and social media marketing. If on the other hand you have an application-based website, you need to spend a lot of your time working on viral marketing and paid advertising campaigns.

Good luck!

Designing an Efficient Landing Page

by Jesse Kemmerer

Affiliate marketing can be a very challenging and competitive market due to its popularity on the Internet. Part of designing an affiliate marketing campaign that produces profits is knowing how to craft a landing page that delivers results.

If you want to make money over the long term with affiliate marketing it is necessary to set up a campaign with a landing page instead of simply sending your prospects to the affiliate product site. By designing an effective landing page you can develop a lasting relationship with your clients and an income for the long term. Here are a few tips on how to design a landing page that delivers results and provides you with a good Return on Investment (ROI).

Follow Through with Keywords

When you plan your landing page make sure the plan includes strategic use of keywords that your prospects used to find you. These are keywords that you found in your research and used in the advertisements your prospects clicked on to arrive on your landing page.

Deliver What the Ad Promises

Plan the content for your landing page so it delivers what was promised in the advertisement or other promotion you used to drive visitors to your site. The landing page should be a continuance of what the visitor read in the promotion. On the average you have about 7 seconds to capture your visitor's attention so make sure the information is clear as soon as your visitor arrives on the page.

Tip: Make sure that you send your visitors directly to the page that contains the offer instead of the home page of your website where they have to search for the correct page.

Stay Laser Focused

Present the offer in an easy to understand format and clearly discuss the product or service that was offered in the promotion. Start the content with a story about yourself to create a rapport with the reader and then state facts about the product. Follow up the facts with the benefits and include any testimonials if you have them.

Avoid being to "salesy" with your landing page copy. As a general rule, people are turned off by sales hype and they will begin to wonder if they can really trust you so be genuine throughout the content. Instead, offer quality information about the product and back up every claim with hard facts.

Keep focusing on the offer throughout the page and include a call to action that clearly states what you want your visitor to do. Stay laser focused throughout and avoid placing any distractions on the page such as flashing banners or advertisements that will lead your visitor away from the page.

Design the Content for Online Reading

When people read content on the Internet they read it much differently than they read a book. Internet surfers tend to be scanners and they will scan the copy to find the information that is of interest.

When you design your landing page copy break it up into sections with headings, bullets, and numbering, and anything else that breaks up the text and makes it easier to read and to scan. Most of your visitors will pick out the information they want to read and only a small number will read the entire copy.

Where to Place Important Information

The most important information that you would like the reader to see should be placed above the fold of the landing page. This is the section of the web page that appears in your browser window before you scroll down the page.

All of the key points from the advertisement should be placed above the fold so that your reader knows that they landed on the correct page. You should also place product benefits in this location and a place where your visitors can opt-in to your mailing list if they are not ready to buy.

Create a Clear Path

The landing page should provide a clear path to the sale by getting to the point, offering quality information, encouraging a decision, and then leading the visitor to take action. Leave all of the bells and whistles off the page and use a simple professional design that allows your visitor to concentrate on the offer.

If you use some of these steps you will find that your page will convert to more sales. It is important to note that after you launch your page it is important to use a website analysis tool to track what your visitors are doing so you can make any necessary improvements to help the page deliver improved results.

Fabulous Footers - 4 Great Ways to Use the Space

by Kabir Bedi

Footers are the oft-ignored cousins of website headers that welcomes visitors when they scroll down and reach the end of web pages. And the web design community is highly guilty of ignoring an element of such critical importance for so long. However new age designers are waking up to realize the immense potential of footers in website design and developing new and unique ways to use them more creatively!

Gone are the days when the footers were a place to place simple copyright statements. The footer has evolved to become an effective place to lead people to places where you want them to go and entice specific reactions from them.

Here are some interesting tips to create fabulous footers and make them enhance the user experience of your website:

Interesting Links

Footers take over from where the body content ends! Therefore, make sure you retain readers attention and continue their interest in the web page. A great way to do this is by offering them interesting links in the footer that point to other areas of the website visitors would be keen to check out. You can also add a small 'search box' there. After scanning down the entire length of the page, chances are your visitors would have some questions in their mind. So, give them an easy way to locate a solution by placing a small search box there. Remember, a footer is not just an appendage. It’s a good host.

Site Map Footers

Bottom areas of web pages are often underestimated. But its important to realize that its a great way to put vital information. And footers are ideal real estate. This is because website visitors naturally scroll down a web page and its very unlikely that they miss the footer. This makes footers an ideal place to provide details. A common trend nowadays is to display site-maps on footers. This is especially great for websites that store content in many sections and sub-sections. Visitors not only get to see important keyword links instantly but also the content doesn't compete with the page above.

Advertisements in Footers

If you fail once, try again! This is the motto of life and it should be no different for your web pages. And footers are a great place for the 'try again' part. If visitors somehow miss the message on your headers, footers serve as a second chance to incite them. The bottom of web pages is a great place to position advertisements and remind your visitors about the benefits of your products or services. The key to effective advertising is to repeat the same message on all pages to drives the point home. Make your footers persuasive and offer great incentives to your visitors that entice them to act.

Author Intros

Footers are a great place to introduce the force behind the website, be it a person or a company. Personal websites carry images of authors along with their areas of interests etc. while corporate websites have snapshots of the company plus its ideals, business objective and overviews etc.

Article Marketing Versus PPC Marketing for Your Online Income Based Business!

by Michelle Jayes

Internet marketers who have been online for a number of years will generally utilize both pay per click and article marketing among the many other methods of advertising they use for their internet based businesses.

As a beginner choosing between article marketing and pay per click (PPC) the benefits of article marketing far outweigh the risks involved in PPC marketing for your online income based business.

These are some of the differences between the two forms of advertising that can help you decide which will be of greater benefit for your online business.

One very big advantage that article marketing has over pay per click, especially for a beginner is that even at the lowest level you can still benefit a start getting traffic even if it is only a little bit each month. Getting a trickle of leads at no cost definitely beats the risk of spending hundreds of dollars experimenting and getting no results from a PPC campaign.

Even if you write and publish an article that is a complete flop and attract no traffic, all you will have lost is possibly and hour or two of your time. Especially if you published it manually on some free article directories, you will not have wasted any money and there is still the benefit of having built a few back-links to your website.

In comparison, if you set up a PPC campaign that bombed, you would find yourself several hundred dollars out of pocket with nothing at all to show for your work. Therefore the risk involved in article marketing is considerably less than that in pay per click marketing.

One of the best benefits of article marketing is that once you have published an article on a few article directories you can pretty much just forget about it and let it do its own work. It makes no difference whether you have just a few articles or thousands of articles published, you never need to do anything with these articles again, they will still continue to bring targeted traffic to your website on a regular basis.

If you compare this with pay per click marketing, although it will bring traffic to your online income business much more quickly, you will need to keep monitoring and tracking each campaign and it will only work as long as you are paying for the advertising. Any paid advertising such as pay per click will stop the minute you stop paying for it.

Pay per click is usually a faster and more efficient method of getting targeted traffic to your website but this can quickly be balanced out by being prolific and diligent in publishing article and here are a few points to prove this to you. For example let's assume that you are getting 1000 click throughs a week for your various pay per click campaigns and your bill is about $50 a week.

For the purpose of this exercise let us say that you get approximately 5 click throughs a week from each article that you have published on any one of the article directories you use. In order to obtain the same number of clicks from your articles as you get from your PPC campaign you would need to have published 200 articles. (200 x 5 clicks per week = 1,000 leads)

So now you need to ask yourself how long it would take for you to publish 200 articles?

Just choose five of the leading article directories to publish your articles on and then publish each of the articles that you write on all five directories. You only have to write 40 articles to get to your target of 200.

So if you can be consistent and write just four articles a week, within ten weeks of your article marketing campaign you will have 200 articles generating quality targeted traffic to your website and if you seriously want to build a successful online income business without spending a great deal of money on advertising, this method will bring you traffic on a regular basis for many years to come.

Importance Of Correct And Valid Html

by Joe Haworth

Importance Of Correct And Valid Html

HTML is the foundation of the web! HTML defines the structure and presentation of the website. Therefore, it needs to be clean, correct and validated.

HTML document validation is an automated process. Just like the Spell-Check feature in MS Word enables you to identify and correct spelling and grammar mistakes in the document, there are HTML validators that enable you to validate your HTML coding. However, there are cases where HTML validators return cryptic or arcane-sounding results that confuse the web developers. And fixing these errors can be a daunting task.

It is not uncommon to make mistakes while writing code. To ensure that the code is written correctly and to fix any undue errors, HTML validators are used. There are a number of free online HTML validators available on the internet that are up-to-date and efficient. In fact, the World Wide Web Consortium, W3C has its very own W3C HTML Validation Service at http://validator.w3.org The W3C is a standard body that offers specifications and guidelines to enhance the accessibility of website and define standard HTML specifications.

It is very easy to use the W3C HTML Validation Service. You just need to enter the address of the online web page , upload the HTML file or documents. After you have done this, the service will automatically display a list of all the potential problems in the HTML. You can correct all the mistakes and resubmit it to confirm the consistency of the document.

However, in order to sort the problem, you would need to know what the problem is and how it can be sorted. This is something that bothers a lot of young web designers and developers who are fairly new to the intricacies of HTML. Fortunately, some of the most common HTML errors are in fact common. Here are some popular errors and ways to fix them.

Absence of DOCTYPE

The HTML document should start with a DOCTYPE declaration. In fact, it should be the first line of your document. If you do not start the HTML document with a DOCTYPE declaration, HTML validators wont be able to perform their job.

Absence of Closing Tags

One of the most common mistakes that happen in HTML coding is unclosed tags. Especially, I you have the habit of copying and pasting codes among documents, there may be several instances where you start a tag but forget to close it. This can wreck havoc on the layout of the web page.

Improper Nesting of HTML Tags

This is the case when you forget to close HTML tags in the reverse of the order in which you opened them. This further leads to discrepancies in the overall code. However, once you spot them, it is extremely easy to fix them. All you need to do is to arrange them accordingly.

Absence of Quotation Marks

Often in case of hyperlinks, people tend to start quotation marks but forget to close them. This results in the link not being created at all. It it important to go through the text carefully and close the quotation marks.

Absence of ALT Attributes

Alt tags are necessary in tag in order to display the alternate text that describes the image used on the web pages. Without the Alt tag, the image will be on its own supplying no information to search engines and thus hampering the accessibility of the website.

Once, you have corrected all the errors in your HTML codes, resubmit the document to the validator in order to ensure that the code is clean and free of all inconsistencies.

How Many Types Of Affiliate Marketing Programs Do You Know?

by Stan Bannister

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing. All of the articles are based on real experiences and research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, internet marketing or running an online business in general. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. One idea, one tip, one clue can make all the difference.

How Many Types Of Affiliate Marketing Programs Do You Know?

Affiliate marketing programs have never been as popular as they are today. Why? There can be a number of reasons. The most likely reason, however, could be the fact that the benefits of affiliate marketing have become clearer to a lot of people now than they were in the past.

Today, both the merchants and the affiliates can see clearly that affiliate marketing can work for both of them. The merchant sees affiliate marketing today as the opportunity to advertise their products at a lower cost. The affiliates, on the other hand, sees affiliate marketing as an uncomplicated way of earning profits online by doing what they like most, and that is by creating websites.

Just as the popularity of affiliate marketing has shifted into greater heights, so has the people's outlook about it changed. No longer is affiliate marketing considered today as an alternative method for the merchant to advertise his products, or as a source of supplemental income for the affiliates. For merchants and affiliates alike, affiliate marketing is now considered as a main source of profits and revenues.

So the question now is what type of affiliate marketing will work most effective for you? Are all affiliate marketing programs alike? Are the benefits the same? Or are there affiliate marketing programs that work better than the others?

There are in reality different types or classes of affiliate marketing, and the number of types will depend on how one will classify them. The most basic affiliate marketing programs, however, falls under two categories: pay-per-click (PPC), and pay-per-performance (PPP).

* Pay Per Click (PPC)

PPC is the most popular type of affiliate marketing for affiliates with small websites, and probably the easiest way for them to earn money. In this affiliate marketing type, the merchant pays his affiliate whenever a visitor is referred to his site, that is whenever someone clicks through the merchant's banner or text ads. The affiliate gets paid a certain amount even if the visitor he referred does not purchase anything from the merchant's site. However, typical fees for PPC affiliate programs are small, usually not exceeding a dollar for every click.

* Pay Per Performance (PPP)

PPP affiliate marketing is the most popular among merchants and is as well the most lucrative type for the affiliates. In this type of affiliate program, the merchant only pays the affiliate whenever his referral translates into an action--that is whenever the visitor he has referred actually buys something from the merchant's site or when the visitor becomes a lead. This means a lot of savings for the merchant. On the other hand, it becomes the most lucrative type for the dedicated affiliate, for commissions in PPP affiliate marketing usually comes in the range of 15% to 20% of the actual product sales.

Pay-per-performance affiliate marketing can be further classified into two popular types: pay-per-sales (PPS) and pay-per-lead (PPL).

* Pay Per Sale (PPS)

In a pay-per-sale type of affiliate marketing, the merchants pay the affiliate a certain fee whenever the visitor he has referred to the merchant's site actually buys something from the merchant's site. Affiliates are frequently paid on commission basis, although other merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee. But no matter what the basis of the fee is, it is more often than not higher than the fee paid to affiliates in a pay-per-click affiliate program.

Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing in general isn't as easy as many would have us believe. I fully understand (through my own experiences) that it is very much easier said than done. However, you are here, right now, because you have a desire to improve your business, grow your business, and be more successful. These articles are here with the sole intention of helping you to make the whole process a lot easier.

* Pay Per Lead (PPL)

The pay-per-lead type of affiliate marketing is a slight variation of the PPS type and is frequently used by insurance and finance companies and other companies who rely on leads for their company to grow. In this type of affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever the visitor he referred to the merchant's site fills up an application form or any similar form related to the business of the company. Compensation for this type of affiliate marketing is based on a fixed fee whose rates approximate that of the fixed fee in the PPS type.

Separate from these three specific types of affiliate marketing, a lot of other affiliate marketing types exist. If the classification is based on the depth of the affiliate network, it can be classified as single-tier, two-tier, and multi-tier affiliate marketing. There is also another type of affiliate marketing that pays the affiliate each time the customer he has referred purchases something from the merchant's site.

* Single-Tier, Two-Tier, and Multi-Tier Affiliate Marketing

These types of affiliate marketing are based on the different levels or tiers in the affiliate network by which payments are made. In a single-tier affiliate marketing program, the affiliates are only paid based on the direct sales or traffic he has referred to the merchant. All the previously mentioned affiliate marketing types (i.e. PPS, PPL, and PPC) fall under the single-tier classification.

* In two-tier affiliate marketing programs, the affiliate is not only paid for the direct traffic or sales that he refers to the merchant's site, but also on every traffic or sales referred by several other affiliates who joined the affiliate program through his recommendation. Multi-tier affiliate marketing works the same way, although the affiliate gets additional commission for a wider number of affiliates in different tiers in the affiliate network.

* Residual Income Affiliate Marketing

In residual income affiliate marketing, the affiliate gets paid not just once for every customer he has referred to the merchant's site. Rather, the affiliate is also paid whenever the customer he has referred returns to the site and purchases another product. Compensation for such type of affiliate marketing is based on either sales percentage commission or fixed fee basis.

The different affiliate marketing types would virtually work differently for merchants and affiliates alike, and each would in general have their own list of benefits. Which type of affiliate marketing will work best for you? It is not really for me to tell. Instead, it is for you to select which type of affiliate marketing program will suit your needs and characteristics best.

NOW is the time!

O.K. you have read the article. Now is the time for action. Without action, this article contributes no value whatsoever to your affiliate success. But remember, without action, you cannot blame this affiliate marketing article or any article for that matter. So, take action NOW.

Even if only one piece of advice, one piece of information, one tip makes a difference, then the whole article has been worth it for all of us.

NOW is the time!

Social Marketing Versus Generic SEO - Whats The Difference?

by Dave Talbot

There are many different methods of marketing your business website, on-line shop or e-commerce website, but for many business owners there seems to be a bit of confusion between what is considered generic back link building and what is a true social marketing campaign, and more to the point what is the aim of each marketing strategy?

Different SEO and web marketing companies will of course employ different methodologies to promote a site and more often than not you get what you pay for so to speak. Equally there is bound to be a crossover in campaign strategies the debate of which could go on for months, but the purpose of this article is to highlight the key differences and aims of each type of campaign not what any single campaign should contain.

Generic Search Engine Marketing

Typically the aim of a generic search engine marketing campaign (SEM) is to develop relevant and targeted anchor text back links to specific pages on your website to increase your sites link profile and authority in the eyes of the search engines.

This of course is all aimed at improving your website ranking and to ensure your website becomes "known" in the search engines for the particular key phrases you are most interested in ranking for.

Low level or cheap link building services often include article marketing, content distribution and directory submissions, although most professional Seo practioners will probably dismiss directory submissions as the quality of these links is generally very poor at best and sometimes dubious also.

Low level or cheap link building services can also take advantage of what have become known as social websites; typically these are in the form of blogs and other web 2.0 properties and even low level social bookmarking sites. Forum posting just for the sake of links would also fall under this category.

The quality of budget link building services can vary wildly but they are not to be sneezed at though, as in many cases especially in less competitive or tight niches they can prove to be very effective indeed and are often all that is needed to rank a site well.

Social Marketing Campaigns

Social marketing campaigns are quite different to generic search engine marketing campaigns although there can be degree of crossover in many cases. A true social marketing campaign is much more focussed to generating leads and brand awareness as well as meeting the targeted marketplace in its own backyard.

A social marketing campaign however is also generally considered to be much further up the evolutionary tree of link building so to speak and whilst it will still develop and reward you with good quality back links to your site, social marketing campaigns are generally of much higher quality in both their make up and also can require a significant amount of planning and preparation..

Typically social marketing campaigns will take advantage of prime and highly focussed Web 2.0 properties and business networking sites such as Face book, My Space, Twitter, LinkedIn, Ecademy and so on, as well as other complimentary web sites and social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit and Del.icio.us to name but a few .

The aim of a good social marketing campaign is not to specifically develop back links per se (although this is bound to happen) but to develop either brand or business awareness in a defined market place where the products or services you or your company supply will or could be in demand.

It is also to establish you or your company as an industry authority, go to person or trusted advisor, or even a business that can help other people solve their own problems or critical business issues by the provision of quality goods and services.

The Downside of Social Marketing Campaigns

Whilst the advantages of a social marketing campaign are undeniable there are a number of downsides to which it pays to be acutely aware of.

The main downside of social marketing campaigns is the sheer amount of time and work that needs to be maintained to develop a businesses authority or profile across many sites.

These types of campaign are very hands on and involve ongoing social networking and subtle promotion of a business or brand as well as the generation of useful/helpful relevant content either for general publication or for posting on your own site as quality information pages or blog posts, or as donated content for other complimentary sites that are not in direct competition to your own.

It may be for example that you want to develop a profile on forums relevant to the markets you are trying to penetrate by posting quality useful help and advice (not just a link post), but if not kept up to date or live these profiles can quickly lose ground and your on-line identity will fade.

Most businesses pursuing social marketing campaigns as an ongoing strategy will be spending at least 10- 20 hours plus a week in one form or another and although this can be outsourced (often at considerable cost), typically this is done in house buy either the business owner or the marketing person primarily because the business has the internal product or service expertise to maintain a long term focus and generate quality content.

What Is Right For Your Business?

The correct or most successful strategy required for each business will vary tremendously which is why most SEO professionals will not even conduct a web marketing campaign without some form of initial consultancy or competitive market assessment.

If time is not one of your assets or your budget is tight then a generic link building campaign may be all that is affordable to you, but if you are in a competitive market and serious about your on-line business then it does simply not make good business sense to second guess your requirements.

Bite the bullet and employ the services of an SEO consultant even if only for initial consultancy as the advice you receive more often than not will be highly beneficial to the success of your on-line venture.

Indexing Your New Website Before Launching Your Internet Business

by Gerard Mohamed

Most of the articles on search engine optimization (SEO) will tell you what, and how to optimize your site after you have launched. The persons dealing with how to prepare for your site launch will focus mostly on meta tags and keywords. There will be almost nothing that tells you of the benefits that you can derive if you indexed your site before you launch it.

If you have various indexed sites with links pointing to your own site, your indexing within the three big search engines will occur more rapidly and more easily. This is a result of when those sites are spidered, your link will come up in their index and give you an early presence within the online community.

In order to ensure that your site derives the full benefits of back linking to high page rank sites, consider applying the following five steps at least a month before your site launch.

1. Register your domain name.

Registering your domain even before its launch will give you an opportunity to get some quality links pointing towards your domain before hand. Most of the people do leave domain registration to the last moment and this becomes a lost opportunity.

2. Put up an announcer.

As a pre-launch activity you can put up an announcer of your impending launch. The announcer page should preferably contain full details of your site, including the expected launch date. You can even add a form to the page to enable people to sign up. This activity alone will be able to generate many visitors that will add to your list of customers.

3. Submit articles to directories.

Irrespective of what product or service you are marketing, there must be something to write about it. You can write articles related to your site and submit them to various directories with a link back to your site within the resource box. The link will be picked up by the search engine robots and this will assist with your indexing

4. Start a blog.

By using any of the blog platforms you can start a blog, but ensure that it is hosted on your site. Alternatively, you can use some of the free blog platforms as long as you ensure that the title, description and keywords are similar to your main site. Include a comprehensive summary of your site telling the visitor what to expect when it is launched and how it is going to help them.

Having posted your blog sign up for a Feedburner account, and a pinging service, which will inform blogging directories of your new blog. There is a tendency these days to have more than one blog pointing to your main site, as this raises your profile in the eyes of the search engine robots.

5.Link to a high page rank indexed site. There are many high page rank sites (PR3 to PR7) from which you can get links. What comes to mind immediately are document sharing and social networking platforms like Youtube and Facebook

It should be quite obvious that there are distinct advantages attached to getting your site indexed before the launch. As an online marketer, you need to stay ahead of the game all the time, as the rules of the industry are constantly changing.

6 Tips For Becoming An Affiliate Marketer

by Karen Thomson

Affiliate marketing is usually the first choice at the start of an Internet marketing career. It's an easy way to get a taste of online marketing without having to create your own product or deal with supply and support issues. Technically, you don't even need your own website and you can start right away. You can choose to work part time to build a generous residual income; work hard and you too could the ranks of affiliates who have become extremely rich.

Affiliate marketing is basically where the affiliate gets paid for bringing buyers to the merchants. When the customer makes his purchase, you get a percentage of the sale as a 'commission'. The percentage you get varies from vendor to vendor but, as an affiliate, you get to choose the best option for you. Therefore, if a prospect buys a $100 product and it pays 25% commission, you will receive $25 as a reward for your work. Quite simply, you find online methods to introduce your chosen product to interested people and leave it up to the vendor to do the rest.

How do you choose a good affiliate program to promote? Here are some tips you may want to follow before choosing:

1. It can be more difficult to sell something that you have no interest in so pick a product or program that you would be interested in purchasing yourself. The chances are there that many others are also interested in the same program and products.

2. Look for a product or service that is of high quality. For instance, look for one that is associated with many experts in your chosen niche. This way you will know that the standard is likely to be good.

3. Pick a product that caters to a growing target market. This will make it much easier for you to make sales. There are plenty of ways to find out what products are popular, including looking at the best sellers on Amazon and EBay, but if you are selling something related to a niche that you are interested in, you will know what a popular item is.

4. Do not waste your time with programs that do not reward substantially for your efforts. A program with a compensation plan that pays out a residual income and a payout of 30% or more would be a great choice. Look closely, there are plenty about.

5. Selecting a vendor who provides you with lots of tools and resources will help you grow the business in the shortest possible time. Not all affiliate programs have these capacities.

6. Have a thorough and intensive knowledge about the affiliate program that you intend to promote. Knowing the kind of program you are getting yourself into will help you anticipate and prevent any problems you may encounter.

Once you have got a good hold of the ropes of Internet affiliate marketing and your commissions are rolling in, you may consider giving up the day job and joining the many thousands of affiliate marketers making a substantial income online.

Professional Tricks to Draw Quality Visitors

by Alex Knight

It Is no big secret that cyberspace is overloaded with all kinds of detailed guides that claim to support you to increase quality visitors to your site. To tell the truth, these types of bibles are all either unelaborated or out-of-date. What is more, most of these guides have tricks that can get you in huge trouble with search engines and other authorities on internet. Wouldn't you like to pull quality traffic to your website - quality traffic that will last the trial of time? The important thing here is 'trial of time'. You wouldn't want a traffic building plan that is plainly a flash in the pan.

IMPORTANT THINGS FIRST Prior to speeding out and shouting out your site URL to the entire universe, you should spend time establishing your website in a right manner. It is better to not even consider pulling in traffic to your website if it has any empty web pages, broken links or shabby design. Even though it can be tough to stay patient while your web site is approaching completion, holding on to your horses can be really remunerative in the long run. You can set about flooding your web site with quality traffic once all its features are complete.

SEARCH ENGINES Although internet world is flooded with web sites that claim to be effective search engines, there are only a handful of websites for instance Google, Yahoo etc. that you should work on. To be honest you need not even submit your web site to the search engines - the most dependable search engines will discover it themselves as your web site's link popularity will increase with time and sweat. It is advisable that you keep a distance from services that promise maximizing your web site's link popularity in exchange of payment as you'll merely wind up blowing your money. If any person suggests differently, you can assume that either s/he has less understanding about the discipline or is searching for a window to sell you some product or service.

DIRECTORIES The first step to construct a dependable foundation for continuous quality traffic to your site is submitting it to reputable directories. Submitting your web site to dependable directories will gradually increase the incoming links to your website, amount of traffic and page rank of your website. Many directories charge a minimal fee, usually a one-time fee for listing. Undermentioned is the list of certain important directories to get your website listed in:

Dmoz.org - The ODP Submitting a website to Dmoz.org is free of cost and is one of the most effective to have a site listed in. It's important that you go through their guidelines prior to getting your website submitted to them. Prospective listings with Dmoz.org are examined by a full-time editor and it can take weeks or even months for obtaining an approval. Please do not feel demoralized due to the time factor. Having your site listed with Dmoz.org is worth waiting.

Yahoo.com Having your website listed with Yahoo will cost you $299 per annum. Quite apparently the cost is an important factor here and would make everyone have second thoughts about this option. Online entrepreneurs have had mixed experiences in case of listings with Yahoo.com. The most effective method to estimate your ROI in Yahoo.com is to analyze the section where your site will get listed in all likelihood and the amount of competition in that segment.

Sbd.Bcentral.com This is a business directory of Microsoft and without doubt will be a productive investment for your web site. The submission fee cost $50 when I examined their service last. The payment covers listing and utilization of their service for tuning the internet sites. The tuning service analyzes and evaluates webpages on your web site. After evaluation, it intimates you if your web site is fit for submission, or it consists of issues for example over/under optimization, spam etc. This function can even help you in optimizing your site's pages for unique key phrases or keywords.

SevenSeek.com SevenSeek.com is a standard World Wide Web directory and is fit for any kind of internet site. It's brilliant page rank and link popularity establishes it as a favourite among many web site owners. Same as several other directory submission websites, you should pay attention to the terms, conditions and guidelines of sevenseek.com as well. The listing fee to this directory is $40.

GoGuides.org This one is another great directory to get a site submitted to. GoGuides is crawled by bots everyday, therefore giving it an edge over many others. Listing charge for GoGuides is $40.

Wowdirectory.com This directory is a fairly comprehensive directory with a popular theme. Just like Dmoz.org, listings with Wowdirectory are absolutely free, but approvals can take a very long time. Nevertheless, you can take advantage of their express listing service which assures a site submission in a time span of 1 day.

World Wide Web is full of various other great directories, nevertheless, the ones elaborated above are the essential and most advisable ones. Regardless of you being willing to spend on listings or not, with passage of time, your site will begin getting featured in nearly all the reputed search engines. In fact, a great number of internet directories who charge for listings have adopted a policy similar to Yahoo, which charges a fee for evaluation of web sites only. Therefore you can avail that facility too. It is recommended that you go through the web directories' rules and regulations in order to make sure that your website receives approval and acceptance.

ARTICLES A great trick to get quality traffic and back links to your site is drafting top-notch articles and submitting them to various article directories. This is how it all works:

1. You draft an easy-to-read and explanatory article. 2. You submit your article to several article directories that are meant for site owners needing neat content for their web sites. 3. Web site administrators/owners collect your article/s holding the backlink to your web site for publishing on their own websites.

As elaborated above, the complete process is very simple. The website proprietors who publish your article on their sites provide you an absolutely free back link to your own website. Such regular showcasing of your write-up on other peoples' sites leads to nonstop development of inbound links from web sites all over the internet. All of these backlinks will be generated with only a one-time hard work of drafting and listing the article. This process can be delegated as well. All these inward links will not just offer quality traffic, but will build the credibility of your site search engines' viewpoint also, securing improved rating on search engines.

The article should be scripted well in order to receive acceptance from article directories and then picked up by web administrators for republishing. Some web site owners neglect this critical advise and find themselves in troubles related to acceptance of their articles. In case you're one among such website owners, it is time you do something - visit Jason A. Martin's website now and mouse click on the link titled 'Articles for your web site'. With the support of this facility, you can have as many new write-ups generated as you may need - all with comprehensive copyrights and at a very minimal price. After you collect your batch of articles, all you will need to do is put your name on them and start submitting them to numerous article directories for example goarticles.com, articlealley.com, ezinearticles.com etc.

Listing of articles with numerous article directories is possibly one of the most meaningful steps you need to take once your article is written. Many online entrepreneurs merely pick articles from other internet sources and try to rehash them personally. Consequently such articles are rejected by article directories due to absence of correct writing style and on some occasions plagiarism issues too. Even though few article directories may even slightly edit and approve your write-ups, it is by and large urged to have them written from experts who are well aware of their business.

TEXT LINKS The use of this kind of method is to increase the amount of links pointing from associated websites to your own site. For instance, if your online enterprise is related to selling hot dogs, it's advisable to get backlinks on associated websites that are about subjects like: fast food, hot dogs, hot dog sausages, hot dog toppings, hot dog contests etc. Receiving a link on a website about cookies will not benefit you much. To be honest, it may even hurt your website's chances to go up in the search engine rankings.

Once you've found out all types of keyphrases/keywords pertinent to your topic, you should open your preferred search engine and look up the top 20 sites that show up for your most preferred keyphrases and keywords. Then, you should attempt filtering out the websites where you can obtain a link to your own site. Some of these premium web sites may not provide one-way backlinks from their webpages and might ask you to exchange links. In that case you'll be asked to put a link pointing to their web site on your own. Few might provide a backlink upon payment of a minimal charge. Some of them might even snub you upfront. Do not lose heart and keep moving on with the process of building backlinks.

IN THE END By concluding these processes successfully, you will offer your website a healthy groundwork in relation to rankings on search engines. Irrespective of to what extent the search engine algorithms modify in the time to come, your site will constantly be in great stead. I extend an invitation to you to visit InternetBusinessEntrepreneur.com and join me to discuss contrasting strategies to enhance your ad copy, advance your online business concern/site and lots more. Forever remember that your web site is your pride and you should never let it down by not allowing it all tools and avenues to evolve in the world wide web. You might come across different bad ways to advertise you website also, whenever this happens, remember that what goes around comes around one fine day. Wishing you all the best!

Choosing The Right Video Keyword Tags Is Critcal For Article To Video Conversions!

by Mark Fleagle

One of the most overlooked video tab at YouTube is the video tag. This tag is actually YouTube's version of what we all commonly understand as the keyword meta-tag. You can use up to 120 characters in you video keyword tags. Which ends up to approximately 15 to 20 tags. Here's what YouTube says about video keyword tags: "Enter as many tags as you'd like into the tags field" For example a video about using a article to video converter, might have for example tags like article to video, video marketing tools, article converter, video from article, and newspaper articles on video YouTube users who are interested is creating videos from their existing written articles could search these terms and would find your video in the search results. .When you are using our article information a good video marketing tip that will save you a lot of time is using a article converter program.

Here's what YouTube has to say in it's video toolbox: "when you upload video, we require you choose at least one category and enter at least one tag to describe the content in your video. Adding this information helps other YouTube members find your video, so if you want an audience, help them out!

The more accurate the tags are on each video, the easier it is for everyone to find cool videos to watch. Make your tags as descriptive as you can - if you took a video of your friends at the beach, you might want to tag it like this: part beach surfing. Each tag is separated from the others by a space."

Video keyword tags are very helpful to other YouTube users after you upload them because they make it easier for members to find your video. One thing I want to stress though is that currently YouTube's video key word tags are based on just single words, not keyword phrases. This is different from standard webpage keyword meta tags. This sometimes gets confusing and the tags you enter sometimes creates a bad connection between your video and your tags, so be careful and try to use single words that describe the content of your video. The video tag or video keyword tag actually originated at the more popular social book marking sites such as Delicious. .Please use our article information if you plan on doing some article video marketing using an article converter.

Also , You can always go back and change the keyword tags for your video at YouTube at anytime. So if the tags you first choose are not working just go to your YouTube account and change your tags and try again. Trial and error will always be a part of any online marketing effort whether is video marketing or any other marketing media. .Using our detailed article information is very important if you plan on creating news article videos. To save a lot of time you could use an article to video converter software package.

I have had a great time writing this article we hope you enjoyed our information about newspaper articles on video. Have a great day and the the best of luck to you on converting your articles to video!

How to access your Web analytics tools on cpanel

by Jim Mercado

Time to have a look at a back-end. If your host offers cPanel with your hosting account, you can get access to your Web analytics tools by following 3 straightforward steps :

1. Point your browser to the control panel.

typically, you can obtain access to your cPanel installation by typing your URL, followed by a chop and then cpanel. Here's an example : http://www.yoururl.com/cpanel
That URL will generally direct you to another URL that corresponds with your web hosting supplier, so do not be alarmed if the URL changes. If you know that your hosting company offers cPanel but the instructions above don't take you nywhere, you could need to contact your host provider to get the URL for your cPanel installation.

2. Enter your user name and password and click OK to get access to thecontrol panel.

You are greeted with a pop-up box that indoctrinates you to enter your Name and Password. You'll opt to choose a check box that offers to recollect your password so you don't have to enter it next time around. ( if you've already forgotten your Name and Password, of if you never knew what it was to begin with, contact your website hosting supplier for details. )

3. In the Web/FTP Stats section ( in the middle column, the second category ), click the software that you would like to use.

Voil! You have access to a whole world of data. You'll see one or two different links in this section. The options available in this area rely on what your internet host has enabled for the server. Continue reading to see what type of info these links offer. If your host has enabled several different analytics applications, you're almost certainly wondering which link to click. Do not be disturbed : The choice is not as dramatic as taking the red tablet or the blue tablet. You aren't in The Matrix. The following sections function as a quick guide to understanding what's behind all those'doors' so you can walk through the one you really need.

AWStats statistics
AWStats is a popular, free analytics application that displays your traffic logs graphically. Feature-rich and fast, it's enerally a nice option if you need to get overview information for your site. One of the disadvantages to this choice is that it displays data monthly but does not give you the power to see information for one special day or a date range.

Urchin Stats

as quickly as you click the Urchin link, you can notice that the Urchin control interface is exceptionally graphical. It also parses your log files and exhibits the information graphically, like AWStats. Urchin might run a touch slower due to its graphic-rich interface, but it allows you to see data by day, week, year, or any other custom data range you care to view. Urchin is useful because it offers a word list of terms.

Avoiding the common mistakes associated with web templates

by Stephanie Ly

The Internet is a great place for web designers and programmers to use their creativity to design outstanding (and not so outstanding) work, such as graphics, layout designs and completed web templates. They can then showcase their work to webmasters who are in need of such work. As a result the sharing of web templates is now a very popular niche in the online world. The best thing about them is that they are usually free or sold at an affordable price. Not only that but they benefit the webmaster greatly by saving them time and effort during the building stage of the website. However, there are some common mistakes webmasters can still be make when using website templates and here are some tips to help avoid them.

The number one problem with using a website template is their popular use. Most website owners choose a template that is already very popular and this can leave their website look like everyone else's, lacking originality and uniqueness in the eyes of their visitors. The result would be poor credibility and trust from these people. A popular template if used should have an added touch of personality from the website owner. For example, changing some of the images, logo, and title would help make the website differ to those using the same template.

Although it is advised that a little personal touch should be made to the web template, such action can sometimes lead to another problem - too much customisation. People use template for 2 reasons. It saves them time and it saves them effort. Problem is though some people can go become obsessed about customising their website to look different that the end result is a totally different website. Although this is a good point, website owners end up spending much more time and effort in changing all the little details in the template that they forget why they wanted to build a website in the first place.

In addition, customising the web template may also open up other issues that can take up even more time. One of these is the flexibility to change the layout of the template. Most of the graphics that come with web templates have set dimensions and look good the way they are. Increasing or decreasing the size of the image, for example, may cause the template to change its looks completely and thus leaving more work for the website owner to fix up.

If you are going to use a web template for your website avoid using the very popular ones. You can purchase a premium template instead of using a free template as this would assure you that not many people would have access to it. Or you can still choose a popular template but you need to alter the template slightly to make it more original. Changing the logo, title, images and basic layout would be sufficient enough for a unique look. Try not to spend too much time and effort customising your website and focus on the real part of your website - the content.
